APP-V has the ability to deliver virtualized applications via HTTP instead of RTSP.
I had never really looked into this option before, but i just read a decent article (linked below) about this technique.
This solutions benefit is that you dont require any infrastructure other than IIS, A Sequencer and the APP-V client. I don't really see this method scaling very well however and the missing management controls will just mean more admin pain than a normal infrastructure.
The basic infrastructure required for a regular RTSP environment is not really that hard to achieve, you could host SQL, VAS, IIS all on the same box for a small environment and gain all the additional management tools for your environment.
But maybe it will suit some.
